A kinetic spectrophotometric Method for determination of Tramadol HCl (TRA) in pure condition and pharmaceutical preparations. The method depends on oxidation of Tramadol HCl by Potassium Permanganate in strong alkaline medium (pH=12) using Sodium Hydroxide, were an oxidation product with maximum absorption at 610 nm is formed. The reaction was studied using four kinetic spectral methods, and then the initial rate and fixed time methods were selected for quantification of the studied material, both in experimental and real samples.
The linearity range was found to be 1.5-20.0 μg/mL and 0.5-25.0 μg/mL, with a correlation coefficients of 0.9991 and 0.9993, for initial rate and fixed time methods, respectively.
The results were statistically evaluated by the relative percentage deviation witch didn't exceed 2.99% and 2.27% for initial rate and fixed time respectively. The method was successfully applied for the determination of Tramadol HCl in pharmaceuticals without impeding of the excipients.
