A simple, fast and low-cost potential method for identifying propranolol hydrochloride in the pure state and in its pharmaceutical Formulations was presented in this research. The method was based on preparing the modified carbon paste electrode with the Ion pair complex formed between propranolol hydrochloride and reagent sodium tetraphenyl borate forming an electrocactive material.
The results of the study showed that the electrode with a 7.0% synthesis is an electroactive material, 46.5% graphite charcoal and 46.5% dioctyl phthalate as a plasticizer is the optimal electrode، as it shows a response in the vicinity of Nernst's relationship to the drug substance PPH within the linear field [(9.980 x 10-7) - (0.455 x10-3)M] With a slope of (60.054mV / decade) and a detection limit of (5.065 x10-8 M), the electrode operates within a range of pH values ranging from (2.0-8.7). The selectivity parameters for the processed electrode were calculated and found to have high PPH selectivity with several excipients. The proposed electrode was successfully used to appoint propranolol hydrochloride in the pure state and pharmaceutical formulations.
