Scientific Memorandum of Understanding between the Arab University for Science and Technology and the University of Homs

Based on the mutual desire between the two universities to deepen scientific cooperation relations and the desire of each to deepen and strengthen cooperation between them in all common scientific fields, it was decided to conclude a joint cooperation agreement as follows: Article One: Joint Scientific Work The two universities will exchange documents and information that serve their scientific research and higher education programs. The University of Homs contributes to teaching at the Arab Private University for Science and Technology in the specializations available therein through the exchange of teachers and lecturers. The University of Homs announces its willingness to contribute to examining the accreditation standards for the educational programs to be adopted at the Arab Private University for Science and Technology, through its committees, in exchange for a subsequent agreement concluded between the two universities. Article Two: Graduate Studies and Scientific Research The two parties shall cooperate in supervising and evaluating graduate theses in accordance with the regulations in force in both countries. The two universities shall exchange the regulations and rules governing their graduate studies. Each party shall inform the other of the areas and topics of scientific research it is conducting and that need to be conducted. Conducting scientific research procedures Joint. The two universities will cooperate in the field of authoring, translating books, and joint publishing. Exchange of faculty members on loan between the two scientific institutions for a renewable academic year by agreement between the two parties in accordance with applicable regulations. Permitting students from the Arab Private University for Science and Technology to conduct some lessons and practical applications in the laboratories of the University of Homs. The method and fees for this process will be determined by a subsequent agreement. Article Four: Financial Conditions The costs of any mutual activities between the two parties shall be agreed upon through official correspondence. Article Five: The agreement shall be effective for a period of five years from the date of its ratification by the competent authorities in accordance with the regulations in force at both parties. The agreement shall be automatically renewed annually after its expiration unless one party notifies the other party in official writing of its desire to terminate it six months prior to the renewal date. Any clause or article of this agreement may be amended, changed, or added to the articles of this agreement after consultation and agreement between the two universities through official means. Benefit from the electronic libraries available at both universities, provided that this does not conflict with the approved internal regulations. Article Four: Executive Program The two universities, through similar colleges, shall develop a detailed executive program for cooperation that defines the aspects of joint cooperation in accordance with the applicable regulations and laws at both universities. A joint committee from both universities shall also be formed for evaluation and follow-up, to meet at least once a year. Any amendment, change, or addition may be made. An item or article of this agreement shall be added to the articles of this agreement after consultation and agreement between the two parties through formal means. It shall be deemed effective after it is signed by both parties in accordance with the procedures followed by each party and approved by the Higher Education Council.
