Abstract:

In this paper two compounds: 2,3-dihydroxypropyl 2-amino- benzoate 2,3-dihydroxypropyl 2-hydroxybenzoate have been synthesized by fisher esterifiation reaction. The glycerol has reacted with both of 2-aminobenzoic acid and salicylic acid, in the present of homogeneous acid catalyst (H2SO4, H3SO3H) and heterogeneous acid catalyst (Amberlyst-15), also the optimal conditions: (catalysts and solvents) to get a high selective compounds and high yields have been studied, The use of heterogeneous catalyst and excess of glycerol (eight time)  which plays as a reactive and solvent to get a required selectivity and high yield about (70%) of the synthesized compounds at six hours in comparison to the homogeneous catalyst, in addition to the low selectivity of the final product. The reaction followed by using thin layer chromatography (TLC),  the molecular structures have determinate by spectroscopy methods FT- IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR
