Juliet Farhat

Abstract:

Everything in human life submits a sort of regular cycle, or what is called "rhythm" as breath, pulse, day and light alternation, season cycle and others. Rhythm has a tight relation to one's life, it reflects on his work, temper, behavior and all kinds of his arts like music, dance and architecture.

The importance of this research comes from studying the rhythm in the architectural work, and defining its harmonic elements, sorts and its applications in architecture on both architectural and urban levels.

Then, the research demonstrates by study and analysis the rhythm in Arabic societies architecture in Islamic ages, because of its compatibility, correspondence and vitality. All that give it additional properties like simplicity, comfort and beauty, and make its architectural rhythm more wonderment and majesty, because it expresses the realization of that age and religion.
