Synthesis of SnO2-ZrO2 by Co-Precipitation and Hydrothermal Methods and Study Its Structure and Characteristics

Dr Ala Al Kusair

Abstract:

The ceystalline phase of (SnZrO4) white colored was obtained by co-precepitation and hydrothermal methods in an alkali solution. The zirconium chloride (ZrCl4), calcium chloride (SnCl4.5H2O) and the alkaline solution of ammonuim hydroxide (NH4OH) were used as starting materials in ratio (1:1) (Sn/Zr). In the The co- precepitation method, the precipitation of two solution was accomplished at the same time. Then the product was filtred, dried and burned at different temperatures to obtain required crystals. In the hydrothermal method the precipitation of three solution was mixed and put in autoclaves at (t=180C°, P=1MPa), then the product was burned at 500C°. After that, the samples in both methods- studied by x-ray powder diffraction method and thermal differential analysis (DTA). This study appears that the SnZrO with orthorhombic crystal type can synthesized in low temperature (<700C°), This is of great importance in the industry in terms of energy saving for the process of preparing binary crystals.
