The ankyloglossia is one of clinical cases which can be seen in the pediatric clinic, and occasionally the pediatrician diagnoses it. It is known that this problem has a big influence on the lingual functions, especially in complex cases. It has a negative influence on speech, because of functional disorders of lingual movements. These disorders can cause a long term influence on the development of the child, and his relationship with the society. The surgical treatment is important to treat this anatomical disorder, and to repair the role of the tongue in speech, and its physiological functions.
This article discuses on the basis of literature review, the influence of ankyloglossia on speech, methodological approach, treatment method, and the information needed in this case.
