Many studies have examined the effect of semi-active damping control on vehicle isolation from road disturbances and achieving proper riding comfort where different types of algorithms were used in the control.
The subject of damping systems control that are appropriate for specific types of roads was also searched; accordingly, the results of these researches are valid only for roads types covered by these studies and therefore difficult to be generalized.
In this study, semi-active damping control using Genetic Algorithm (GA) and superposition application for two degrees of freedom quarter car model was studied in order to improve the vehicle performance and achieve good ride comfort that is suitable for different inputs (road disturbances). Numerical results showed improved vehicle performance, reduction in the vertical acceleration which insure the rid comfort and achieve the objective of the study.
