They will also strive to be worthy of the patient's trust, God willing. From this standpoint, the Faculty of Dentistry guarantees all the basic rights of the patient, which are:

  • Every patient has the right to receive the best health care that suits his problem, regardless of his race, gender, nationality, religion, age, and physical fitness.
  • Every patient has the right to be treated with courtesy and respect by all staff and has the right to be called by his name correctly, and to be dealt with in a manner that respects his privacy.
  • Every patient has the right to know which member of the health care team (dental student, faculty member, etc.) is directly responsible for his care, including the name of each member of the team.
  • Every patient has the right to ask the dental student and other members of the health care team about his condition and has the right to receive answers that satisfy him, including the condition of the teeth and medical terms related to his condition, the treatment plan and the expected results of the treatment
  • Every patient has the right to discuss any treatment, procedure or operation planned for him with members of the health care team so that he can understand its purpose and results and the alternatives and risks involved before he agrees to the treatment plan.
  • Every patient has the right to know what we think about the best treatment plan for him, if possible.
  • Every patient has the right to schedule a visit and request a review of his record by a faculty member who is familiar with his treatment plan.
  • Every patient has the right to withdraw his/her consent to the proposed treatment and to stop treatment at any time he/she wishes.
  • Every patient has the right to receive the necessary first aid in emergency cases.

Patient Duties:

At the College of Dentistry, we believe that the patient should be informed of his/her responsibilities. This helps us achieve our goals through mutual recognition that he/she plays an important role in implementing his/her treatment plan.

  • The patient is expected to provide the members of the health care team with complete and accurate information regarding any problems related to his/her health care that occurred in the past, and any medications or treatments he/she is currently receiving
  • The patient is expected to follow the instructions issued by the members of the health care team and cooperate with them, and he/she has the right to ask questions if he/she does not understand those instructions.
  • The patient is expected to express complaints or concerns to the persons supervising his/her treatment.
  • The patient is expected to respect and consider other patients.
  • The patient is expected to acknowledge that the College of Dentistry is an educational institution, and he/she can state that his/her dental treatment is proceeding at a slower pace than he/she expected.
  • The patient is expected to understand that the treatment provided to him by the health care team is the best available, but there are no guarantees in any treatment provided.

Patient Selection and Acceptance:

Patients are evaluated and accepted in dental clinics after prior appointment for an initial examination. The patient may not be referred for treatment by students before his condition is evaluated and officially accepted. During the first visit to the patient, a faculty member determines the patient's general dental condition, and his suitability for treatment is evaluated by the students of the Faculty of Dentistry or by faculty members. After the patient's examination is completed, he may not be accepted for treatment in the Faculty of Dentistry. Patients may be referred for radiographic examination after an appointment has been made for this. In general, all patients accepted for treatment in the Faculty of Dentistry must undergo a radiographic examination before they go for treatment by the students of the Faculty of Dentistry. The patient has the right to have the radiograph taken elsewhere, but all radiographs taken elsewhere will be evaluated for quality and suitability. After the patient has been examined and accepted, a complete and comprehensive treatment plan should be prepared. The treatment plan must be completed and discussed before starting any treatment except emergency treatments. Finally, the patient's approval of the proposed plan must be obtained, after which the student can proceed with its implementation. All types of treatments performed must be recorded in the patient's record, and the patient must approve the proposed plan and the order of treatment.
