Studying the expression of cyclin D1, ki67 gens in clinically and microscopically normal oral epithelial of chronic smokers of nargilla.
The group of study consists of 30 heavy smokers of nargilla,30 healthy nonsmokers of nargilla or cigarette considered as control group.Biopsies from oral buccal mucosa were taken and stained with (cyclinD1 clone DCS-6 Dako Dilution 1/20) – ( ki67 clone MIB-1 Dako Dilution 1/75) anti body by IHC.
Positive Nuclear Cyclin D1 expression was restricted to the above basal cell layer only Maximum percent of positivity is 18.54% in smokers Maximum percent of positivity is 19.80% in control group No statistical differences between the two groups (p< 0.1) -Nuclear Expression of Ki67 protein was restricted to the basal cell layer and the above basal cell layer only. There was statical differences between the twogroups p<0.01),The expression of Ki67 protein increased in nargilla smokers in comparsion to control group.
There was expression of cyclinD1 in heavy smokers of nargilla and healthy nonsmokers of nargilla : High levels of Ki67 protein axpression in heavy smokers of nargilla refer to proliferative cells of oral epithelial that is increased by nargilla tobacco products.
