This study aimed to measure technical efficiency of Islamic banks in Syria. This study used data envelopment analysis (DEA) method to estimate overall, pure and scale technical efficiency during the period (2010-2015). to that end, constant return to scale model and variable return to scale model was used. It has also been using windows analysis technique in order to follow banks performance during the studied period.
This study also followed Intermediation approach for the choice of variables banking inputs and outputs.
The most important results of this study was the Syria international Islamic bank have a higher technical efficiency during the studied period compare Cham bank and Al Baraka bank, and also Islamic banks in Syria did not work in its optimal scale during the studied period. As the result of the overall (CRS), pure (VRS) and scale efficiency refers to existence of closeness among the Islamic banks performance in Syria with the passage of time. Where all Islamic banks in Syria achieved equal levels of overall, pure, and scale technical efficiency in 2015. This refers to the increase of competition among them.
