The Deanship of the Faculty of Pharmacy, under the auspices of the University Presidency and in cooperation with the branch of the Syrian Students Union, organized a scientific trip to the largest pharmaceutical factory in the Middle East, the Asia factory, which is located in the north of the city of Aleppo.
Our students were supervised by:

Dr. Michel Noman, Professor of Pharmacokinetics
Dr. Saif Al-Din Al-Asaad, President of the Student Union Branch
 
The tour started by presenting the university shield and certificates of appreciation to the representatives of the Board of Directors of ASIA Laboratory, in gratitude for the hospitality and good reception and the comprehensive visit to the most important production departments, which number about twenty departments.
 
Dr. Abdul Moin Kashkash, Deputy Production Manager, kindly divided our students into three groups for easy movement within the departments. The supervisors did not skimp on explaining the stages of the preparation and manufacturing processes starting from the raw materials, and the supervisors also talked about the most important regulatory tests applied during manufacturing.
 
The most important departments that our students visited:

1. The hormonal medicines department, which is the first department opened in Syria, and the supervisor explained the extent of caution during the preparation of this type of preparations in order to prevent cross-contamination or contamination of the preparators during work or even to prevent contamination of the surrounding environment.
2. The Department of Biotechnology Medicines (Insulin), which is unique in Syria, and is characterized by the difficulty of working with this type of preparations in terms of production conditions that require a cooling temperature not exceeding 8°C.
3. The department of large volume intravenous solutions, i.e. serums, has a very important role in supplying hospitals with these vital solutions, and played a key role during the war period. This department was distinguished at the level of Syria by the fact that it prepares serums according to the PFS technique. The explanation in this section also included how to prepare the sterile water necessary for the preparation of serums from raw water by treating it in three different stages to reach completely sterile water free of any contaminant.
4. The soft capsule section, which is also unique to the Asia Pharmaceutical Industries Laboratory at the country level, as this pharmaceutical form has pharmaceutical advantages compared to other pharmaceutical forms.
5. Our students also visited a new section in Syria, which is the single-dose ophthalmic drops section, i.e. the bottle is used only once
6. Finally, our students visited the liquid ampoule and dry vial sections, which require a sterile atmosphere for their preparation.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who contributed to the completion and success of this scientific trip rich in industrial practical information that the student needs in order to complement what he learns from the theoretical sciences at the university.
