As part of enhancing the practical aspect and linking theoretical knowledge with real-life applications, the College of Chemical Engineering at the Arab University for Science and Technology organized a scientific trip for fourth-year students to the Homs Sugar Company.
The visit included a field tour of five main laboratories within the company: the sugar factory, the oil factory, the alcohol factory, the yeast factory, and the red soap production factory. Students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the industrial processes followed in each factory and observe the production stages, operating conditions, and tools used.
The visit began with an introductory session, during which the laboratory managers provided detailed explanations about the work mechanism in each department. The students then visited each laboratory separately, which provided them with a deeper understanding of the standardized processes they study in their academic courses.
The students were accompanied on this scientific trip by Professor Dr. Muhammad Hilal, Dean of the College, in addition to a select group of faculty members. At the end of the visit, Dr. Hilal expressed his gratitude to Engineer Saleh Saleh, the company's general manager, and the laboratory managers for the support and valuable information they provided to our students, emphasizing that this practical experience represents a fundamental pillar in preparing an engineering generation capable of advancing national industry in the future of Syria.
