Modified Zeihl-Neelsen was used for detection of cryptosporidium oocytes in direct smear or after Formol-Ether concentration method, and the result was completely the same that the oocytes were confirmed in 7 samples with percentage 3.5%.
Nested-PCR test was performed on 6 positive samples out of 7, and had been followed by RFLP analysis, and Cryptosporidium parvum was the only species which found. This study is the first in Syria which depended on RFLP analysis in identifying cryptosporidium species, and its result confirmed presence of Cryptosporidium parvum.
