Abstract:

In this study, a rapid, simple, cost-effective and accurate spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of sodium diclofenac in modified release tablets using ethanol 96% as an available and non-toxic solvent. This method was validated in accordance with the requirements of the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). The developed method was also successfully applied to determine diclofenac sodium in four commercial pharmaceutical products marketed locally as modified-release tablets. Therefore, we recommend using this method to quantitatively determine sodium diclofenac in pharmaceutical dosage forms.
