Derivation Of Transformation Parameters Between WGS84 and Local Datum In Syria

ِAbstract:

This paper presents the transformation of GPS coordinates, related to WGS84 datum into local geographic coordinates, related to Clarke1880 datum. The transformation of three-dimensional coordinates systems requires that translation vector and rotation vector and scale factor are known. In this paper seven transformation parameters (∆x,∆y,∆z,ε,ω,ψ,s) between WGS84 datum and Clarke 1880 datum are derived for Palmyra region using a geographic coordinates of common pointes in both systems. The obtained transformation parameters when using three points are presented as following: 

DX= -681.1697 m, DY= 227.3073, DZ=-261.8107 m, ε=8'',ω=15'',ψ=30'' ,s= 0.0001.

When the common points are increased (4 then 5 then 6), there are no significant changes in the transformation parameters
