Abstract:
This research has surveyed the healthy situation of Awassi sheep in different regions of Syria aiming to define the most important spread diseases, particularly; parasites and bacterial infections which negatively affect sheep productivity under both release breeding system followed by the breeder and in some research centers related to GCSAR. In addition suggestions of some recommendations that may help in mitigating such health- related problems. Two mechanisms have been followed for these objectives:
- Forms included keeper’s opinions about diseases, health problems, conditions of breeding and production of animals and dealing methods.
- Conducting parasites and bacterial tests in vitro and in slaughterhouse.
Data showed that the most important problems are spreading of Mastitis, Pneumonia, Enteritis, Arthritis,
Contagious putular dermatitis, umbilical hernia, Abortions, birth difficulty, deformed born, parasites infections (Gastro-intestinal helminthes, lung worms, Liver fluke, hydatid-cysts, Eimeria-spp.,Oestrus ovis, Ixodidae, Sarcoptes, Lice, Sihanaptera....etc.
Results also showed that infection in these diseases are less in research stations than in keeper’s animals for release breeding system. Data have been got as a result of this study necessitates assignment of planned strategy and priorities in the field of either protection and treatment or different systems of breeding.
