Synthesis of TiO2-ZrO2 by Co-Precipitation Method and Study of Crystal Structure

Abstract:

The crystalline phase of white colored zirconium titanat (ZrTiO4) was obtained by co-precepitation method in an alkali solution. The zirconium chloride (ZrCl4), titanium chloride (TiCl4) and the alkaline solution of ammonuim hydroxide (NH4OH) were used as starting materials in different ratio,the precipitation of two solution was accomplished at the same time. Then the product was filtred, dried and burned at different temperatures to obtain required crystals. After that, the sample studied by x-ray powder diffraction method. This study appears that the titanium zirconate with orthorhombic crystal type can synthesized at temperatures starting from 500C°. This is of great importance in the industry in terms of energy saving for the process of preparing binary crystals.
