A scientific trip to Al-Hosn Castle and the Monastery of St. George for first and third year students of the Faculty of Architecture
Al-Hosn Castle, which is considered one of the living architectural evidences from the course on the history of medieval architecture, where the students listened, while touring the sections of the castle, to a detailed and accurate explanation from Dr. Abdul Rahman Hamdoun and the professors about the history of building the castle, its historical and architectural importance, and the stages of development. Its construction throughout the ages (the Mirdasids, the Crusaders, the Ayyubids, the Mamluks...). The students learned closely about the architectural sections and elements of the castle and the function of each of them.
After that, the students continued their scientific journey towards the Monastery of St. George in the village of Mishtaya to see one of the most important ancient historical churches in the Levant
After the students listened to an explanation from the teaching staff about the history of the monastery and its departments, they took a tour to learn live about the model of basilica churches and its architectural elements, such as porticoes, vaults, etc.
During their visit to the monastery, the students also viewed one of the important historical documents, which is the Omari Document (Arabic).
