As part of the scientific activities of the College of Architecture, the Deanship of the College of Architecture established, in cooperation with The National Union of Syrian Students, Branch of the Arab Private University for Science and Technology
A scientific trip to the Khaled bin Al-Walid Mosque in the city of Homs, the ancient Church of the Virgin Mary, the old monastery, and the Magic Village Resort in Zaidal for architecture students in the second and fourth years.
The students listened to a detailed explanation from Dr. Salem Al-Issa, Dr. Hanan Al-Faisal, and the professors about the domes and cross arches in the Khalid bin Al-Walid Mosque, the old Church of the Virgin, the continuous vault in the Church of Deir Mar Girgis, and the hall attached to it, which is implemented with metal structural elements.
The construction elements were also explained to the students in each of the attached buildings in the Khalid bin Al-Walid Mosque, including shear walls, retaining walls, cutting and expansion joints, in addition to the hurdy-gurdy slabs fastened in one direction and two directions, and the methods of their reinforcement.
Finally, the trip concluded with a visit to the Magic Village Resort in Zeidel and learning about its elements and the method of its design and implementation.
