In the era of accelerated technology, there is great importance for intellectual property and the methods of protecting it have evolved, and countries have competed in relying on modern technology, and universities are a major source of creativity and innovation and a treasure trove of ideas because creative ideas are owned by the young generation for their creative energies.Advanced universities have been interested in providing the means to encourage innovation from laboratories and tools that help in scientific research, in addition to developing the information of global patent databases that provide rich and modern sources of technology in all areas of life.The member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) have designated April 26 of each year to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day.World Intellectual Property Day provides an opportunity to highlight the role that intellectual property rights, such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyrights, play in encouraging innovation and creativity.A balanced IP system recognizes and rewards inventors and creators for their work and ensures that society benefits from their creativity and ingenuity. Intellectual property rights provide the means by which researchers, inventors, companies, designers, artists and others can secure legal protection for their innovative and creative products and ensure a financial return on their work.The theme for World Intellectual Property Day 2024 is Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity.In 2024, we will celebrate the changemakers around the world who are driving the innovation and creativity needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and build a better and more sustainable future for all.Intellectual property is central to addressing the global challenges we face. It is a powerful catalyst for growth and development, and therefore has a key role to play in improving livelihoods and protecting our planet.World Intellectual Property Day 2024 is an opportunity to highlight the pivotal role IP, innovation and creativity play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for all.The theme of this year's competition is: Using IP, we can dream of a better tomorrow, turn our ideas into reality, and create a world where everyone thrives.The competition provides an opportunity to celebrate inventors, innovators, entrepreneurs and communities around the world whose innovations, creativity and use of IP rights are improving people's lives and protecting our planet in line with the SDGs.
Who can participate?
Contributions can be submitted by individuals or groups of individuals.Individual contributions must be submitted by individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 (i.e. under 35 years old) by the submission deadline. Group submissions can include up to 10 participants, with at least one member being under the age of 35 by the submission deadline.
What are the prizes?
First prize: Digital equipment with a maximum value of CHF 5,000.Second Prize: Digital equipment with a maximum value of CHF 3,000.Third prize: Digital equipment with a maximum value of CHF 1,000.People's Choice Award: Digital equipment with a maximum value of CHF 2,500.The top 20 winning entries will benefit.
How to participate?
